I’m a single mom who in the past 7 years has been treated for thyroid and colon cancer, yet I still work full time. “Our oldest son is autistic and has a very rare genetic disorder, both of which cause struggles in several areas for him. He is absolutely obsessed with birthdays, and his birthday is by far his most favorite day of the year. We recently lost our entire household income, which makes me incredibly sad and nervous as we head not only into the holiday season, but into my son’s birthday season as well. “It’s my husband, myself and our 2 children. My husband works full time but its barely enough to afford the bills and anything else in this economy. We don’t have a lot of disposable income so when it comes time for the holidays and birthdays it’s extra stressful and I feel like a failure. We make too much to qualify for government assistance but not enough to survive. “She is a sweet girl about to turn 5 years old. She has had a lot of medical issues the past year but has been so brave and strong and still so caring to her siblings. We were having to go to the children’s hospital 3 hours away every 3 months, then every other month, and this month it has been weekly. With this happening my husband has had to work on his days off for extra money. We are hoping that it’ll only be up from here but unfortunately keep running into obstacles.
